Facts
- Every failure in our sex life has negative effects on our psychology. The longer you prolong the problem, the more the fear of failure increases within us and leads to worsening of the problem.
- Diseases of the heart, blood vessels, nerves (eg heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, multiple sclerosis) or surgery (eg prostatectomy) are known causes of erectile dysfunction.
- Erectile dysfunction drugs are extremely effective when used correctly, but they only treat the symptom, not the condition. They cause an erection but tissue damage persists and progresses over time. Many men with moderate/severe erectile dysfunction will not respond to medication over the next few years as the corporal lesions have multiplied.
- There are treatments that either prevent the progression of the problem, or reverse the changes and restore normal sex life.
- Shock waves when done with the two machines licensed in the European Union (Dornier Aries2 and Medispec ED 1000) have proven effectiveness. The rest of the machines on the market (although some are extremely cheap to buy) do not have clinical studies that prove effectiveness and safety and do not have the approval of the regulatory authorities for the treatment.
- Relationship plays an important role in healing. Partner support is a key factor in the success of any treatment.
- Penile prostheses in properly informed patients have excellent results.
Are there any secrets for the treatment protocol?
- The physicians “experience” factor in dealing with the condition is the most important in diagnosis and treatment
- The correct and detailed sexual history leads to the correct diagnosis and treatment strategy.
- The diagnostic tests (penile triplex, recording of nocturnal erections, etc) to be reliable require deep knowledge of pathophysiology and extensive clinical experience.
- Misdiagnosis is easy to make, since the diagnostic tests are dynamic tests (the result is determined by the experience of the doctor and the capabilities of the sonographer).
- A strategy that solves one person’s problem may be completely ineffective for another
- Research advances and offers new treatment options every day.
- It is not enough just to restore functional erections, but it is necessary to secure them in the future.
What does the specialized clinic offer in particular?
- Professor D. Hatzichristou is the founder of the European Society of Sexual Medicine (first conference in 1995 in Potos Karras, Halkidiki).
- In the last 20 years we have been internationally the group with the most publications on the problem.
- International recognition both at research and clinical level, with patients from all over the world. With original publications both in the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
- We pioneered the development studies of erectile drugs, but also of every therapeutic method.
- Our publications have provided normal values in diagnostic tests internationally, but also specialized treatment protocols with drugs and shockwaves that are now applied worldwide.
- Experience is our main weapon, with over 30,000 patients with the problem (in the public and private sector).
- Since 1995, we have been teaching Urologists around the world through courses, webinars and conferences all the steps in the diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
- We use personalized treatments, depending on the history/problem of each patient.
- Every treatment available today internationally is offered, using the latest data and cutting edge technology.
- We use machines approved and proven through clinical studies and not low-cost imitations of unknown effectiveness.
